The Dexcom G6 is a real time continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system. This CGM system is factory-calibrated—so zero fingersticks are required.* The Dexcom G6 is comprised of a sensor, transmitter and display device (compatible smart device**and/or receiver). The system features a redesigned, one-touch auto-applicator and sleek, discreet transmitter. The Dexcom G6 sends glucose readings to a smart device or the Dexcom receiver every 5 minutes. The Dexcom G6 is approved for patients ages 2 and older.

*If your glucose alerts and readings from the G6 do not match symptoms or expectations, use a blood glucose meter to make diabetes treatment decisions.

A new patient will receive the Dexcom G6 system including a–transmitter and sensors. If you use a compatible smart device**, you will need to download the Dexcom G6 app, refer to link below. An optional touch screen receiver is available as well.

A G6 transmitter lasts for three months

The Dexcom G6 sensor is approved to be worn up to 10 days.

No. The Dexcom G6 CGM system is designed to eliminate the need for fingerstick calibrations* and can be used for 10 days without restart.

*If your glucose alerts and readings from the G6 do not match symptoms or expectations, use a blood glucose meter to make diabetes treatment decisions.

When you start a new sensor, you must enter a code into your display device to use the G6 without fingerstick calibrations.
Each sensor has its own 4 digits code printed on the back of the adhesive patch. Do not use a code from a different sensor or make up a code. If you do not enter the correct code, your sensor will not work as well and could be inaccurate. If you have lost the sensor code, you may calibrate the G6 using fingersticks.

Yes, you’ll need to put in the sensor code from the sensor each time you start a new one.

The sensor code is found on the bottom of the applicator on the adhesive strip.

Without your sensor code, you’ll need to calibrate twice after your 2-hour sensor warmup is complete, a third time 12 hours later, a fourth time 12 hours after that, and then once every 24 hours.

You have the option to use only the app, only the receiver, or both at the same time.

Each year we assess whether to keep supporting older Operating Systems (OS) for Dexcom apps. When an OS you’re using is no longer supported for your Dexcom app, we will ask you to update your OS to continue getting app updates. Your current Dexcom app version will
continue to work, but you won’t be able to get future app updates until you update your OS to the new required minimum OS.

Removing support for older OS’s is a normal app maintenance activity and is typically done after we add support for new major OS’s. Additionally, updating your phone to a newer OS version that’s compatible with your Dexcom app can provide your phone with improvements in Bluetooth connectivity, security, and other features that may offer a better phone experience.

If your phone can’t update to the new minimum OS, you’ll need to install the Dexcom app on a phone that runs the new minimum OS to continue getting app updates. While your current app version will continue to work on your phone, Dexcom can’t predict how the app will function in the future.

Dexcom Share is a feature within the G6 app that allows for remote monitoring. One person, (the Sharer) may share their CGM data with another person (the Follower). To setup Share simply press the Share icon in the app and follow the onscreen instructions.

*Requires separate Follow App and internet connectivity.

At this time, Dexcom will not have a recycling program. Dexcom recommends that users dispose of the used applicator following local guidelines for blood containing components.
